Review
Eddie Murphy playing multiple characters, and making fat jokes? Never. Norbit never bothered to divert itself from the course of another loud, obnoxious film, that had no real sense or comedy that had any originality whatsoever. Murphy is way too talented to continue to waste it on films like this. I can’t even figure why was given a budget. You may as well have had Eddie and his brother sitting and chatting. It would have been way more funny.
Despite it’s awful premise, Norbit was still made into an unforgivable comedy, that will offend, annoy, and disgust most of it’s viewers. Since most people have seen “The Nutty Professor”, or the “Klumps”, or Martin Lawrence’s “Big Mamma’s House”, most of us are attuned to the fat jokes. There were times when Mall Cop got on my nerves with the cliche fat jokes, butNorbit was an entire movie structured around them.
We all know Eddie Murphy does great multiple character’s in movies, and even after awhile you forget that Rasputia is even him, but it’s so gimmicky now. He does it for the sake of doing it rather than any reason. I get Eddie Murphy’s motivation. He likes to portray his dueling personalities. The sweet, gentle hearted side, and the evil, loud, obnoxious side.
Norbit was a mess from beginning to end. The plot was overworked, the character’s became annoying rather than funny, and mostly it was boring. Halfway through I just didn’t care what happened anymore. I love Eddie Murphy, but sometimes I wish he’d do better movies. The Verdict? A terrible, terrible comedy.

I am very sad to hear that Eddie Murphy has made another bad movie. He used to be someone that I would go see whatever he was in to now- I don’t bother seeing anything he’s in. Come on Eddie, find that comeback movie so we can enjoy your talent once again.
Why must he constantly play two roles in his movies? I’m thinking they either can’t get anyone else to star in his crap movies or doing this gets him two paycheques which he must really need with all the stinkers he keeps releasing. Bring back the old Eddie!
