I hate to be a party pooper, but other than the cinematography I just didn’t love 30 Days Of Night. It had some things working for it but at the end of the day it was a large disappointment for me.

My personal favourite vampire movie is Near Dark. Of recent movies 30 Days of Night was really good.

I agree that LGB wasn’t saying anything quite that drastic Vamplover. Nosferatu was an amazing movie, and I don’t think it’s an arguable point if it’s on anyone’s #1 spot. It’s just more interesting and compelling that it was such an interesting film to watch even though it was the first of it’s kind.

I find it humorous that one person has pointed out that part of Nosferatu’s appeal is in it’s groundbreaking creation while other posters on this comment string have deemed me incompetent for adding older films in the first place!

Opinions are just opinions I guess!

Vamplover, I thought my comment made perfect sense. I was never saying that at all, there are a lot of movies that are the first in a genre that someone would’ve come up with after them anyway, but Vampires are a very specific subgenre and Nosferatu was the earliest one I can think of that was actually important to the genre, being so controversial that prints of the film were burned.

I understand your view point and I’m gonna admit both of your ideas for number one would be good too.

LGB your comment makes so sense. Really? That’s like saying every first movie of a genre or kind ever made should be the best. Just because it’s ground breaking doesn’t make it the best.

Personally I would have put Blade at #1 or maybe Dracula, but at least for reasons of content rather than notoriety and age.

Nonsense.

Good list overall though.

I honestly don’t think Interview should be number one, simply because Nosferatu is the earliest vampire movie of any notoriety and some would argue without it the rest of the list wouldn’t exist without it.

I don’t know if Baph is a quack or a troll, but what I can attest to is my own list. It is quite a leap in assumption to conclude that this list was padded when I have a movie like From Dusk Till Dawn ranked #2 and the much critically hated Bram Stokers Dracula. Very few appreciated what Coppola did with that film.

That being said, 1931’s Dracula is a movie I’ve loved since adolescence. The first time I saw it was in seventh grade drama and drew a deep seeded affection for the tale of Dracula, not to mention an adoration of vampires. Nosferatu I didn’t see until recent years and I admit watched because of my curiosity after watching Shadow Of The Vampire which I LOVE. Maybe Nosferatu isn’t as relevant in todays cinema but it desrves it’s ranking for it’s inspiration in cinema. The rest of these films quite frankly may not have existed after that.

And Interview being gay? I’m okay with that. It’s still a great movie.
