The Giant Octopus from Bride Of The Monster
Over the years some people have referred to Ed Wood’s flicks and monsters as campy and even Bela Lugosi as a bottom feeder, but I’ve always found those movies to have a certain charm. Cheesy, yes, but they were a lot of fun and even sometimes pretty eerie. Bride Of The Monster is no exception to this collection of Ed Wood films. The mad scientist Dr. Vornoff (played by Lugosi) is trying to make superhuman creatures using radiation treatment. So far he’s achieved a menacing giant Octopus, but otherwise most of his attempts have resulted in failure. When hunters are heading for his house of doom he sends his giant octopus to do his bidding. The first guy manages to avoid the giant monster but the octopus reaches up out of the water and grabs the second guy. The first guy comes back and starts shooting the octopus and finally kills it. I don’t know why but I’m pretty impressed with this campy monster from the past. It looks a lot better than it should, and to me is the only truly frightening aspect of this silly flick. So today The Octopus from Bride Of The Monster is Creature #13.

I love Ed Wood and I do not own enough of them. I must rectify this situation! The guy gives hope to everyone that they can make movies! HAHA!
