I just guess I have a problem with Michael Cera anymore. While I “like” the character he constantly plays, it doesn’t mean that it isn’t boring. Aside from you I’ve heard good things about this one though, so I’ll give it a looksee eventually, but I’m in no rush.

Jon, I understand that you like this movie. I didn’t love this movie. It was not funny. Michael Cera doing his same thing again. YAWN! I hope Scott Pilgrim would break the curse.

    • It was kind of Napoleon Dynamite-ish, but more vulgar I think and that brand of humor is hit or miss. I just liked the awkwardness of it all; the movie fit the character. Plus, the soundtrack was sweet.

  3. I just trust Michael Cera’s “talent”, but I probably will see this eventually.

Just gotta say, the “Oakland” in the movie looks NOTHING like Oakland California.

This movie worked in part. He’s certainly got some trouble shedding that awkwardly funny demeanor…but then again I guess that’s why he’s getting these parts. To me, he’s a young Ben Stiller. Both have one acting style and zero range.

Although Justin Long stole every scene and he made the movie work when it was getting slow.

I enjoyed Youth in Revolt, it was intermittently quite funny and although Michael Cera is starting to really wear down on audiences because he has no range whatsoever, he was effective here. I gave it a B back in January.
