Review: Fast Five (2011)

MOBSTER'S RATING: It was recently announced that Justin Lin might be taking over the Terminator franchise with Arnold Schwarzenneger in tow. After seeing the director’s latest, dumbest—and best!—entry in the Fast and the Furious franchise, I can understand why. Working from a lackluster series of carsploitation flicks, Lin and his ... Review: Water for Elephants (2011)
Posted On 22 Apr 2011 By Bartleby. Under 2 Stars (Mediocre), 2011, By Genre, Drama, Reviews, Romance.
A glossy polished adaptation of the popular romantic epic about a guy, a girl and the whole darn circus. Unfortunately, a truncated script and lack of chemistry between the leads knock it off the high wire.

Black Swan (2010)
Darren Aronofsky isn’t a prolific filmmaker, but when he does create, he delivers with nothing short of a demented genius. He wowed everyone with “The Wrestler” recently, and now astounded audiences with the acclaimed, “Black Swan”, where Natalie Portman won her best actress Oscar.

Top Ten Worst Ben Affleck Movies
Posted On 18 Apr 2011 By Heather. Under Top Tens And Lists.
“Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms Yo!” Based on that conjecture Phantoms will not be involved in this list. Also, I really like Ben Affleck. He’s charming, down to earth, and seemingly unaffected by his Hollywood fame, a rare commodity in Tinsel Town. Unfortunately, his career is vomit worthy.

Posted On 16 Apr 2011 By Bartleby. Under 2 Stars (Mediocre), 2011, Action, By Genre, Comedy, Horror, Reviews.
Mobsters Rating: Absence, apparently, really can make the heart grow fonder. It has been about 14 years since the original Scream slashed its way into the hearts of horror fans and created a doomed spiral of self-reference and pop-culture slumming. For years after, the genre was locked down in a slog ... Read More

Review: Your Highness (2011)
Posted On 08 Apr 2011 By Bartleby. Under 1.5 Stars (Insignificant), 2011, Action, Action-Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy, Reviews.
Mobster Rating: David Gordon Green, where have ye gone? Once the most promising and inspiring of indie filmmakers, directing such poignant American vignettes as George Washington, Undertow, and All the Real Girls, Green has lately turned over to crass stoner comedies. While that artistic about-face paid off with 2008’s Pineapple ... Read More

Top Ten Movie Bromances
Posted On 01 Apr 2011 By Heather. Under Top Tens And Lists.
The phenomenon of the "Bromance" is alive and thriving in pop culture today. A bromance or man-crush is a close but non-sexual relationship between two (or more) men, a form of homo-social intimacy. Bill and Ted, Frodo and Sam........these are the man couples that have defined a friendly and almost awkward relationship on the big screen.

Taking pieces of Groundhog Day, The Manchurian Candidate, and The Matrix and mixing them all together, Ducan Jones comes up with the best action movie of the year to date.
