November Review Star: George Clooney
I’m a hybrid. I succeed in both worlds. I hope that selling out on Ocean’s Eleven (2001) is not such a bad deal. The trade-off is, I get to go make somethinguncommercial that will probably lose money.
Birth Name
George Timothy Clooney

Here’s your options: Live long enough to watch your friends die, or die young. Now, I’m not pessimistic at all. I’m just saying I realize that’s true. I don’t want to see any of my buddies die, and I don’t have any interest in dying young, either. But I had to come to terms with what I’m not going to do.
George Clooney is one of those special actors that only comes once in a great while. Whether you agree with his political beliefs, his antics against the press, or even his talent as an actor, he’s one of the most recognizable faces on the planet, and certainly one of the most charming. The only other characters I could distinguish with the same kind of likability are Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Will Smith, Paul Newman, and very few select others make this list.
He bounces between the worlds of mainstream and the off kilter and has been acknowledged for some pretty impressive work in film, but some of my personal favorite roles are still those that include his more light hearted or sarcastic characters. From Danny Ocean (Ocean Flicks) to Archie Gates (Three Kings) or even to Seth Gecko (From Dusk Till Dawn) I still think my favorite role is HarryPfarrar in the recent film by the Coen Brothers “Burn After Reading”. His depiction was so dead pan, and the final scene with him running down the park is the hardest I think I laughed in all of 2008.
What I’m looking forward to is the soon to be released The Men Who Stare At Goats. It looks to have a feel of that Harry Pfarrar, but also be a darkly humorous film. The film also stars Ewan McGregor. McGregor plays Bob Wilton, a reporter who has just stumbled onto the story of a lifetime after meeting Lyn Cassidy, played by Clooney, who is supposedly a former member of a top secret military team that used their paranormal powers in their missions. The film is directed by Grant Heslov, who directed Clooney in Good Night and Good Luck. This is one of my MOST ANTICIPATED for the year of 2009. It will be coming to the big screen on November 6, 2009.
…directors are the captains of the ship, and it’s your job as the lead actor to make sure that the rest of the cast understand that by doing whatever he says.
He still has no qualms about talking about some of the lesser work he’s done over the years, such as the notoriously bad Batman and Robin:
‘Batman [& Robin]‘ wasn’t a very good movie and I’m not very good in it. But I got wealthy from it. They gave me three million bucks and I met with my accountant after it came out and I said, ‘Where do I stand?’ And he said, ‘You never have to work again unless you’re an idiot.
Yet he’s managed to turn out plenty of gems in the past decade as well. Enjoy this month of November as we dedicate a huge portion of our reviews to the charming and talented GeorgeClooney!
Random Facts
He is the nephew of singer/actress Rosemary Clooney and Betty Clooney.
He was once the owner of a pet pig named Max, given to him by Kelly Preston, for eighteen years. Sadly, Max died on December 1, 2006.
Clooney has played a gangster in seven movies: From Dusk Till Dawn (1996), Out of Sight (1998), O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), Ocean’s Eleven (2001), Welcome toCollinwood (2002), Ocean’s Twelve (2004), and Ocean’s Thirteen (2007).
His famed “Roman haircut” was actually an accident. While filming From Dusk Till Dawn (1996), he wanted to make his character Seth Gecko look really crazy with a chopped off hairstyle. But the haircut became popular and turned into a positive.
Run for office? No. I’ve slept with too many women, I’ve done too many drugs, and I’ve been to too many parties.

he’s hot!!!!
George Clooney is a sexy, sexy man. I do enjoy his acting, as well. Don’t forget about Good Night, and Good Luck! I don’t really like when people compare him to Cary Grant, though. They’re from completely different generations with different styles!
