I am so happy that I stayed up late to watch the entire Academy Awards this year. For once, I do not have to go to work tomorrow which is a bad thing but in this case is great because I was able to see the acceptance speeches for the big winners tonight. I am so happy that 10 films were nominated this year.
I am ecstatic that The Hurt Locker won for Best Picture. This is exactly what I expected to have happen. It was such a great scene on the stage for hte acceptance of this award. The excitement in the eyes of the cast, the director and the writers. I am so happy that an independent film of this caliber won this year and I share the excitement of those involved.
I must say that Kathryn Bigelow is BEAUTIFUL and looks great in that color dress.
I echoe your sentiments about “Avatar” — although I really, really wanted Tarantino to win, there’s something supremely satisfying about Bigelow becoming the first woman to take the award. Plus, the person she took it from is James Cameron, creator of the technically amazing but not-so-original “Avatar.” Don’t get me wrong — I’m all for blockbusters being included in the Oscar hunt, but only if they DESERVE it.
She deserved it – the hurt locker is a great movie.
