Leonidas, I’m really happy for you, I’mma let you finish. But, Aragorn is one of the most baddest assest sword wielders of all time. Of all time!

Thanks Ruben. It was difficult. I didn’t realize how difficult it would be until I started writing it out!

You bit your tongue when so hastily throwing aside Arwen when comparing her to Gorgo! :)

Had to go with Aragorn here. He’s a wonderful weapon master that doesn’t necissarily dominate in one category, but is one of the more well rounded warriors we have seen. Sure Legolas is better with the bow and Gimli is better in melee attacks, but Aragorn is excellent in both, making him an overal better soldier.

And then there is always the huge trump card of having the Army of the Dead. There’s just no beating that.

Ahhh. I like Arwen but I am in loooooooove with Queen Gorgo.

I think it ultimately would boil down to Aragorn being more resourceful. Even if Leonidas could out wield or melee him, Aragorn thinks outside of the box so much I believe he’d take Leonidas by surprise, just as Xerxes did.

Hmmm…….interesting they both had Faramir / Dilios to rely upon in one manner or another. I think if each man was stripped of his support system, no Spartans for Leonidas and no Fellowship or Magical Weapons – Ghost Armies for Aragorn……..I’d put Leonidas just ahead by a smidge. Aragorn is a fine warrior, but also a Ranger, Elven Scholar… See More, & bearer of man stench. Leonidas kills things……dead. From his early childhood to his death he lived as a warrior day in and day out. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it….

I agree if nothing else matter, basic hand to hand Leonidas has the upper hand. That part of the skills is the biggest portion that Leonidas overwhelmed, but, as I said before I think in the end Aragorn’s resourcefulness and inability to give up would give him that brief moment he would capitalize. I could be wrong here, but it would be a hell of a fight.

Close call…Leonidas gets the win in a very close battle. And I’m not even a fan of him or the movie at all…that’s what I call objective!

You must have a thing for air-brushed abs over phallic swords. ;)

Damn, tough and highly interesting matchup! It’s really a preference between brawn or brains. Aragorn does have the advantage of living in a fantasy world while King Leonidas is mostly rooted in real life (History).

I tried to make them as fairly matched as possible. It boils down to very specific things on each side. Truly I think it could go either way, but my idea of Aragorn being more used to fighting as the underdog would play to his advantage. Also he decapitates people regularly. Extra points for me every time someone loses a head.

  6. I’d give this one to Leonidas only because screaming ‘This is Middle-Earth’ doesn’t sound quite as cool.

Yeah, I’ve even taught my kids to randomly yell, “This is Sparta” in public venues. Both guys are favs of mine. It was a toughie.

Thinking about it now, Aragorn really needs a catchphrase…

Oooh, this is a tough call Heather! Despite my affinity for Butler, I didn’t immediately pick King Leo here, ’cause I LOVE Aragorn and obviously LOTR is the far better movie. I think in a hand-to-hand combat, Leonidas might have an edge because he’s just born bad-ass and was trained all his life to kill. But if we’re talking the ghostly army vs. Spartans, I guess Aragorn will have the last laugh, I mean who can beat people who are already dead?! Somebody ought to make a spoof of this :)

My ultimate goal is to have “The Deadliest Warrior” do their cheesy reenactments for me. :)

I have much love for both men here. It would be a close call, abs, swords, and all!

A Ranger vs. a King huh…oh wait, they’re both Kings:)

I’m so torn here…they both have a knack for taking out men and beasts with a sword, but while I think Leonidas is the better warrior, he does have a shorter life span. Aragorn gets the unfair win here:P

It does seem a bit unfair doesn’t it? I think I would feel awful with either of them losing to be honest.

    • I read Marc’s comment really quick and thought he said “they both have a knack for taking out men and [breasts]” I wonder if I’m projecting…

Gotta agree with Aragorn winning. Viggo Mortensen killed a man with a knife while he was unarmed an naked.

Excellent match up, and I totally agree with your outcome. Aragorn will walk away from that fight broken, bloodied and bruised, but Leonidas would eventually get that phallic sword through those airbrushed abs due to his Spartan cockiness.
