Rachel Weisz will star in the upcoming spy thriller Page 8 written and directed by acclaimed playwright David Hare. Weisz has a great relationship with Hare, she will appear in a stage production of his play Plenty for producer Robert Fox and director David Leveaux.
Page 8 is being produced by BBC Films with filming scheduled to start this January. The film also stars Bill Nighy, Michael Gambonand Judy Davis. Hare recently met with Ralph Fiennes about starring in the film, but no agreement has been made as of yet.
Hare wrote the film because he is a huge fan of spy films and felt that there is are not enough modern day espionage thrillers. Not much is known about the film’s plot other than the fact that the title refers to the eighth page of a highly secret document.
Sounds pretty interesting, and the cast is great. Do you agree with Hare that there are not enough modern day spy films?

Great stuff. Weisz was outstanding in The Brothers Bloom recently – for me, her career best performance.
